The quantum of illegal gratification charges leveled against Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and his family members by JDS leader and former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy crossed the Rs 70 crore mark with fresh accusations being made on Saturday.
Kumaraswamy,continuing his recent corruption campaign against Yeddyurappa,produced documents suggesting the receipt of Rs 13 crore as kickbacks by a real estate firm and a healthcare firm owned by Yeddyurappas sons in return for the awarding of an irrigation project contract to a private party.
Kumaraswamy at a press conference alleged that two companies,Davalagiri Developers and Sahyadri Healthcare,started by the Chief Ministers sons,received Rs 13 crore in 2009-10 and 2010-11 in the guise of share capital from a company called Murdeshwara Power Corporation,a sister concern of RNS Infrastructure Ltd,which was awarded a contract for the Upper Bhadra lift irrigation project.
The Rs 1,032 crore irrigation project was awarded to RNS Infrastructure on September 30,2008 by Chief Minister Yeddyurappa as the chairman of the Karnataka Neeravari Nigam Ltd,the implementing agency for irrigation projects,the JDS leader said.
Kumaraswamy said he was considering filing cases before the Supreme Court for a CBI inquiry. The BJP national leadership is asking for the PMs resignation in Parliament but is protecting a corrupt CM in Karnataka, he said
