WASHINGTON: Top White House economist Austan Goolsbee said Monday he was stepping down,marking the exit of one of President Barack Obamas top aides at a time when new signs of weakness have emerged in the economy. Chairman of the White House Council of Economic Advisers,Goolsbee plans to return to his teaching job at University of Chicago.

PARIS: Syrias ambassador to France resigned on Tuesday in protest at the Syrian governments repression of protests. France 24 said Lamia Chakkour denounced the violence in Syria and no longer wanted to represent Damascus in France.

UK nursery worker admits raping child

LONDON: A male nursery worker has admitted raping a toddler in his care and to grooming more than 20 other girls online. Paul Anthony Wilson,20,pleaded guilty at Birmingham Crown Court on Tuesday to two counts of the oral rape of a girl aged two or three-years-old at the nursery where he worked,the Press Association reported.
