CAIRO: In a message Tuesday marking the September 11 anniversary,al-Qaedas new leader sought to claim credit for this years Arab uprisings,saying the 2001 attacks on the USpaved the way for the Arab volcano. Ayman al-Zawahri said,in the hour-long audio message,said,By striking the head of the world criminal, al-Qaeda forced US to press its allies in the Middle East to change their policies,which helped the Arab volcano to explode.
Sweden convicts Italy politician of child abuse
STOCKHOLM: An Italian politician arrested after a public altercation with his 12-year-old son has been convicted of child abuse in a case that highlights differing views on corporal punishment in the two countries. The Stockholm District Court on Tuesday said Giovanni Colasante,a local politician from southern Italy,intentionally inflicted pain on his son by pulling him by the hair during an August 23 argument in Stockholms Old Town. The court ordered him to spend three days in jail.
Ahmadinejad: US hikers could be freed in days
NEW YORK: Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says two US hikers arrested and convicted on spy-related charges there could be freed in a couple of days. Ahmadinejad announced the upcoming release on NBCs Today show in an interview aired early Tuesday,saying it would be a humanitarian gesture.
Argentina: 7 dead,162 hurt in bus-train crash
BUENOS AIRES: At least seven people were killed in a crash Tuesday involving two passenger trains and a bus whose driver drove around barriers in an attempt to beat them across the tracks,Argentine authorities said. Police said 162 people were injured,many seriously.
