Samjhauta: Court extends accuseds remand

CHANDIGARH: A Panchkula court on Wednesday extended the judicial remand of Swami Aseemanand and Kamal Chauhan,both accused in the Samjhauta blast case. The two were produced in court which extended their judicial remand. The case has been adjourned to March 20.

Jawan kills two women in Poonch

JAMMU: A Territorial Army jawan,Tariq Khan,shot dead two women in Poonch,a border town,on Wednesday morning,holding them responsible for his wifes extra-marital affair with a local. The police have registered a case and started investigation. The jawan has been arrested and his rifle seized.

Retd judge to probe Anandamargi deaths

KOLKATA: The state government on Wednesday constituted a one-man inquiry committee to probe the circumstances leading to the death of 17 Anandamargi sanyasis near Bijon Setu in Kolkata in 1982. The probe will be conducted by Santosh Kumar Faujdar,a retired judge of Calcutta High Court.

Bribe: CBI arrests top DRI official

CHENNAI: The Additional Director General (Chennai Region) of Revenue Intelligence,C Rajan,was arrested by the CBI here on Tuesday for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 2 lakh and an iPad from a businessman. Rajans driver Murugesan was also arrested. The two were produced in a CBI court which remanded them in judicial custody till March 21.

Naxals torch 14 vehicles in Cgarh

RAIPUR: Fourteen vehicles engaged in road construction activity in Chhattisgarhs Kanker district were set afire,allegedly by Naxals who have also threatened to stop further work,police said on Wednesday. Kanker SP Ratanlal Dangi said Naxals set on fire 14 vehicles including four JCB machines belonging to Patil Construction Company under Pakhajur police station area Tuesday night.

Two-year-old girl raped,murdered

Jalna: A two-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered by her 20-year-old neighbour at Indira Nagar locality here,police said on Wednesday. The accused,Ravi Ghumare,lured the child,who was playing outside her house,to his room on the pretext of offering her ice cream and sexually assaulted her. He then strangulated the victim,they said.
