AHMEDABAD: The Director General of Civil Aviation has initiated a probe into the crash-landing of a chopper at Godhra on Wednesday,in which spiritual guru Asaram Bapu and four others were travelling and had a narrow escape. A DGCA team from Mumbai reached the spot to conduct the probe on Thursday,official sources said.

PATNA: The police raided three places,seized 25 kg charas and arrested four youths in Patna on Thursday. IGP Amit Kumar said: Though we are yet to know where charas was brought from,we suspect an organized gang behind this.

NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Thursday dismissed a bail plea filed by Anca Maria Neascu,wife of arms dealer Abhishek Verma,in a money laundering case. Anca was granted bail by another court in other cases but refused in this case after the ED pleaded that her release may hinder the probe.

Geetika case: Chadha custody extended

NEW DELHI: The judicial custody of MDLR employee Aruna Chadha,co-accused in the Geetika Sharma suicide case with former Haryana Minister Gopal Goyal Kanda,has been extended till September 11. Chadha was arrested on August 8 on charges of abetment to suicide after the police found two suicide notes naming her.

INDORE: A special CBI court in Indore on Thursday issued bailable warrants against two witnesses who did not turn up for deposition in the murder case of RTI activist Shehla Masood. The warrants were issued by the court against Shehlas father Sultan Masood and his relative Sayyed Hussain.

GUWAHATI: Hagrama Mohilary,head of the Bodoland Territorial Council,which runs the four violence-hit districts,on Thursday said the state government has agreed that land records would be the basis on which displaced people would be taken back to their villages.
