School boys body found hanging,murder suspected

MUZAFFARNAGAR: The body of a Class IV student was found hanging at his house in Rampuram area of the district,the police said on Sunday. Shubham was found hanging at his home on Saturday,at the premises of the school where his mother works as a helper,they said,adding that there is a possibility that the child was murdered. The incident took place when the boys parents were not at home. The mother has been taken into custody for questioning,the police said,adding that the body has been sent for post mortem.

Bomb scare on Howrah bridge

KOLKATA: A thorough search was conducted on the Howrah Bridge after an anonymous call stated that explosives were planted on the iconic iron edifice. The call,however,soon proved to be a hoax,officials said. The police said the control room at Bidhannagar in North 24-Parganas district received a call on Sunday saying that explosives were planted on the bridge. Vehicular and pedestrian traffic was not obstructed to avoid creating panic,the police said.

4 held for running sex racket in Sirsa

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana police arrested four persons on Sunday and claimed to have busted a sex racket in Sirsa city. Ramesh Bhatia,Dharmender,Sonu and Vikram were arrested and produced in court which sent them to jail,the police said. They added that the accused admitted they brought girls from West Bengal to Delhi promising them a job,and thereafter the girls were subjected to prostitution.

Two killed,three injured in UP firing

AMROHA: Two members of a family were killed while three others were seriously injured when a relative opened fire on them in Chebda area in the district. The police said,Younis,35,and Mursaleem,28,were killed when their relative opened fire. The families were fighting a case for ancestral land in a civil court for the past 15 years.

Jagjit Singh stable,still in ICU: Doctors

MUMBAI: Ghazal singer Jagjit Singh,who was operated upon at Lilavati Hospital after suffering a brain haemorrhage,is still in the ICU,doctors said on Sunday. He seems to be stable, Dr Sudhir Dagaonkar said.
