School boy abducted and killed by friends

MEERUT: A class 12 student was allegedly kidnapped and killed by his school friends in Shastri Nagar area,police said on Sunday. Moinuddin,a student of K L International Public School,was kidnapped on February 20 by his friends Vishal,Rahul and their associates,DIG police J N Singh said. The accused called the victims father and demanded Rs 50 lakh ransom. The incident came to light when Rahul committed suicide on Friday after being interrogated by the police. The suicide note recovered from him revealed the involvement of the main accused Vishal,who confessed after being interrogated.

Teen stabbed to death in robbery

MUMBAI: A teenager was stabbed to death and his friend,a girl,was injured in a robbery near Bandra-Worli Sea Link in suburban Bandra,police said on Sunday. Four teenagers have been taken into custody, Deputy Police Commissioner Prakash Mutyal said. According to police,Rushabh Yadav (19) and his friend were at an isolated location near the bridge on Saturday night when the four teenagers approached them and asked them to hand over valuables at knife-point.

School headmaster held for molestation

DEHRADUN: A headmaster of a government school was arrested for allegedly molesting a girl student in Rishikesh near here,police said on Sunday. Sharad Kala,the headmaster of Baba Nimkaroli Government High School was arrested on Saturday following a police complaint by the students guardians,they said,adding,Kala was produced before a court and was later released on bail.

Mega Lok Adalat settles 1644 cases

CUTTACK: A High Court-level mega Lok Adalat here disposed a total 1644 cases,including 45 motor accidents claims,and awarded over Rs 65 lakh as compensation to different claimants. At least ten judges of Orissa HC conducted the mega Lok Adalat on Saturday before which 2676 contempt cases,352 motor accident claim cases,seven land acquisition cases and 75 other miscellaneous cases were listed.

Pachora MLAs PA held in rape case

NASHIK: A day after MLA Dilip Wagh was held on charges of rape,police on Sunday arrested his personal assistant and co-accused in the case Mahesh alias Bunty Mali. Wagh was brought here by local police from Mumbai at 2 am,and was admitted to Nashik civil hospital as he complained of ill-health,police said. Wagh represents Pachora in neighbouring Jalgaon district. The NCP had on Saturday suspended him from the party following the charges.

Woman poisons sons to death,kills self

VARANASI: A 26-year-old woman allegedly poisoned her two minor sons before committing suicide by consuming the substance in Malhiya area here,police said on Sunday. The incident took place on Saturday when her husband had gone for work,Lanka SHO Mohan Verma said. The victims were rushed to a hospital but died during the treatment,he said.
