The Indian Television Academy celebrated the 10th year of its GR8! Women Awards in the Middle-East. The event that saw the amalgamation of both the worlds,India and UAE,was held at the Madinat Jumeirah,Dubai on April 15. Talking about the awards,Shashi Ranjan of ITA,said,Ten years ago a dream came to us and then it became an obsession. Women today are so hardworking but do we give them the credit for all their dedication towards work? With these awards,it feels good to recognise the women for their talent and their aim to achieve goals. Anu Ranjan,President,ITA,added,Ladies have been pushing the boundaries over the years and here in the Middle-East,we have found a galaxy of super-talented women who need to be accorded for their work.
Raveena Tandon,Vivek Oberoi and Jacqueline Fernandez entertained the viewers with their dance performances,while singers Madhushree and Shailendra Singh sang hit numbers. Also present at the event were actors Shatrughan Sinha,Harman Baweja,Arjan Bajwa and Poonam Dillon.
Among the women felicitated were Aiisha Ramadan for Fashion Designing,Seher Shaikh for Social Activism and Nayala Al Khaja for Cinema from the Middle-East. Those from B-town included Alka Yagnik for Music and Preity Zinta for Cinema,India. Zeenat Aman bagged the Lifetime Achievement award. She said, So far it was a wonderful experience and now it is even more wonderful to celebrate womanhood.
In her speech,Preity thanked her parents. She said,I would like to thank my dad for letting me pursue what I wanted to do in life and my mom who always taught me to stand with my head held high,also made me grounded and down-to-earth. She also had the audience in splits as she concluded by saying,Behind every successful man,there is a women and behind every unsuccessful man,there are two women .so stop making use of women!
