BJP retains Surat West Assembly seat

THe BJP won the Surat West byelection,with its candidate Purnesh Modi defeating the Congress nominee by a margin of 66,274 votes in results announced on Sunday.

Earlier,the seat was occupied by BJPs Kishor Vankawala. His death made the December 4 byelection necessary.

There were 12 candidates in the fray. The election witnessed 54 per cent voting,with 2,307 people opted for the None Of The Above (NOTA) option. Voting was held on December 4. The election witnessed 54 per cent voting.
