After the 2009 general election debacle, the BJP has gone into introspection mode. Party president Rajnath Singh has constituted teams of senior party leaders to visit different states in coming weeks to take stock of the state of affairs. A four-member team that includes partys national spokesperson Ravishankar Prasad, will visit Uttar Pradesh soon.
This is an ongoing exercise and it is being done for all states, Prasad told The Indian Express. The team visiting Lucknow will meet the partys Lok Sabha candidates especially those who had cited internal bickering as one of the primary reasons for their defeat.
The review, party sources said, might see many skeletons tumbling out of the BJPs closets. There are a number of issues, like the way tickets were distributed and the flaws in managing the election. Through this exercise these issues will be raised at the national level in the party, a BJP office-bearer said.
