Students of the Birla Institute of Technology held a demonstration after a third-year engineering student died allegedly due to a wrong injection

Students of the Birla Institute of Technology BIT here held a demonstration after a third-year engineering student died allegedly due to a wrong injection.

Arun Kumar,a resident of Hyderabad, was an asthma patient. He was administered an injection at a dispensary on Saturday morning.

The doctor administered him some injection. Soon,he started sinking. We rushed him to Apollo Hospital where he was declared brought dead, said one of Kumars classmates.

His condition deteriorated after he was administered the injection. We demand an impartial probe, said another classmate.

Though the doctor concerned was not available for comment, the students alleged that when they checked the logbook of medicines and injection given to him by the doctor, the name of the injection was found to have been scratched out and some new name written. We suspect a foul play and have kept the logbook in our custody, said a student.

We have interrogated the students and the doctor. We will take appropriate action after we get the post-mortem report, said

Sub-Inspector Sunit Kumar, who is investigating the case.

BITs dean of students welfare Anand Kumar refused to comment on the issue. We have nothing to say since the police are investigating the case, he said.
