Being an athlete,Deepika Padukone has always maintained a slim figure. But the actress, who will be seen sporting a two-piece in Homi Adajanias Cocktail, went through great trouble to get her debut bikini act right. Her fitness trainer,Yasmin Karachiwala, and her dietician,Pooja Makhija, talk about this leggy lasss transformation into a bikini babe.

Weighty workouts

Deepikas trainer Yasmin Karachiwala believes that being an athlete,Deepika was already very fit, which made her task easy. She says,The bikini look requires a slightly different approach as the focus is to get every part of your body to look wow. While it required hard work, which Deepika was willing to put in,it was not insurmountable.

Karachiwala combined functional training and pilates for the actress for a duration of three weeks to get the look right. The regime is mostly about discipline and making modifications to the fitness program on an ongoing basis. We used functional training and pilates in varying degrees. As we got closer to the finish line, pilates was used extensively for the sculpting that was required, she says.

While the trainer was not present on the sets in South Africa where the scene which required the actress to sport a bikini was shot, she ensured that the fitness program was designed in a way that Deepika could work out wherever she was. Since she is so disciplined, focused and driven, her exercise continues as does her eating smart 8211; low carbs, high protein and low sugar food, she says.

Eating right

Besides her daily workouts,Deepika also followed a modified diet to get her bikini act right. Pooja Makhija, who has been planning the actresss diet for two years now, says,Since Deepika has an ectomorph body type, she can beautifully burn whatever fat she eats. The actress was put on a low carb diet for a month before the shoot. Her primary source of carbs was quinoa,a cereal from South America which has lesser carb content as compared to rice and bread but a higher protein content similar to the pulses. So it is very filling as well as nourishing. We eliminated rice and roti from her diet completely and reduced bread intake, informs Makhija.

Moreover,a day prior to the shoot, the actress reduced her salt intake as well. Makhija adds,She drank ample amounts of water to ensure that there was no water retention. We also eliminated caffeine intake so that she would not look puffy or bloated. But she ate every two hours otherwise she would have collapsed on the sets. Immediately after the bikini shot,we reintroduced bread in her diet.
