Army team helps deliver babies
New Delhi: An Army medical team on Sunday helped deliver two babies a boy and a girl at a makeshift centre in Sabola. After trekking 15 km,the team reached Tijan. When the team,led by Capt R Patil,found that two pregnant women required medical attention,they requisitioned a lady doctor. Army doctor Capt Febba Susan was heli-dropped at a nearby area from where she reached after a 10-km trek,said DG,Military Operations,Lt Gen Vinod Bhatia.
Biggest copter operation: IAF
Dehradun: The IAF has launched its biggest ever helicopter-based rescue operation to provide succour to the stranded people in Uttarakhand. Given the current pace of operations,the IAF feels it would take about a weeks time to evacuate all those affected. However,the time period is just an estimate as all depends on weather gods, Air Commodore Rajesh Isser said.
Adi Sankara temple to be rebuilt
Kancheepuram: A small Adi Sankara temple built by the Kanchi Sankara Mutt at Kedarnath bore the brunt of flood fury,and would be rebuilt once normality was fully restored,Sankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi said on Sunday. He said the temple was built in 1983. It might take about two years for the roads to be cleared. The Kanchi Mutt would reconstruct the temple,he said. pti
