Ansari gets lawyer

More than two weeks after his arrest by the Delhi Police Special Cell,a lawyer has now been engaged for alleged 26/11 plotter Zabiuddin Ansari alias Abu Jundal.

Advocate M S Khan,who is at present the counsel representing 10 accused suspected of being members of the Indian Mujahideen,filed an application before the court of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Vinod Yadav on Monday seeking permission to meet Ansari. The application states that Ansaris mother has engaged Khan as his counsel.

CMM Yadav has allowed Khan to meet Ansari,who has been sent to the custody of the Delhi Police till July 20.

Speaking to The Indian Express,Khan said he intends to oppose further police remand for his client.

He will have been in police custody for a month on the 20th,which is a long time. I will ask that he be sent to judicial custody now, said Khan.
