Anna writes to PM: Implement UN anti-graft norms,Vohra report

Anna Hazare on Wednesday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to implement the UN Convention Against Corruption and recommendations of the A N Vohra Committee to tackle organised graft.

“I request you and your Cabinet to read the UN Convention document which was signed by our government and also the Vohra report again. It is possible that due to your busy schedule you may have forgotten the details of the convention and the findings of the report. I request you to implement the recommendation of the Vohra report,” he said in the letter.

He questioned the government’s “reluctance to put in place an anti-corruption mechanism despite having accepted both these documents”.

Anna to meet Maharashtra leaders over ‘strong’ Lokayukta
Mumbai: Anna Hazare will meet top political leaders here on Thursday,to garner political support for a strong Lokayukta legislation in Maharashtra. Hazare will meet CM Prithviraj Chavan and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar. He is also expected to meet Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray and MNS chief Raj Thackeray.
