In another breakthrough in the Allahabad blast case,three persons have been arrested from Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh for allegedly facilitating the two-wheeler in which the bomb was planted.
The July 12 blast near the residence of UP minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi caused the death of two persons,including Indian Express senior reporter Vijay Pratap Singh. Five persons,including Nandi,were injured.
The Jabalpur arrests were made on Monday in a joint operation by STF and the Allahabad police. The three accused have no criminal antecedents.
Allahabad DIG Braj Bhushan said,Three persons have been arrested from Jabalpur for playing role in facilitating the blast at the ministers house. The exact details about their specific role in the crime would be revealed after they are brought here and interrogated.
According to information collected from the Jabalpur police,the three arrested were identified as Subhash Vishwakarma (40),Mohammad Rafiq (40) and Jai Shanker Vishwakarma alias Gudda. The office of Jabalpur SP Santosh Kumar Singh stated that Subhash was an auto driver while the others were automobile mechanics and there was no criminal record of any of them in Jabalpur.
The three were detained at the Garha police station for questioning. Subhash confessed that an unidentified person from UP had met him two months ago and had sought help to buy a Sunny Zip scooty from Jabalpur. Subhash introduced the person to Gudda and Rafiq got the scooty arranged which was sold to the person.
The three denied any knowledge of the address of the person who bought the two-wheeler. The money he gave in the deal was not known immediately as the three,when separately questioned,gave different figures,the Jabalpur police said. The UP police procured transit remand of the accused from a Jabalpur court and left for Allahabad.
