AFSPA remark: Exercise restraint,Farooq tells brother

Under pressure from the state Congress leadership,Union Minister for New & Renewable Energy and National Conference president Farooq Abdullah asked his brother and party spokesman Mustafa Kamal to exercise restraint and follow the party policy line on issues pertaining to the policies of the coalition government,relationship with the Congress party,AFSPA and the role of the Army.

In the past few days,NC legislator Mustafa Kamal issued statements against the Congress and the Army that have left the J&K Congress annoyed. Kamal even said Army is sabotaging the withdrawal of Armed Forces Special Power Act from the state.

Certain statements of Kamal in the past few days are regrettable. The statements are not endorsed by me and do not reflect NCs policy, the NC president said.
