The CBI has come under attack in a series of newspaper advertisements here which have condemned the agency for the recent arrests of IPS officers in connection with the Soharabuddin fake encounter case.
The advertisements have been issued by Jan Adhikar Samiti,a Vadodara-based organisation. Earlier, anonymous posters along similar lines were put up in Ahmedabad. The Gujarat BJP,at a press briefing after the arrest of IPS officer Abhay Chudasama, had also defended the state police.
Meanwhile, the Gujarat PCC had demanded action against the people behind the advertisements. This is an attempt to rouse the feelings of the people of Gujarat against the countrys premier investigating agency and the Centre, said GPCC president Siddharth Patel.
JAS convenor Harshad Rao said: How can we keep quiet even after knowing that some people are trying to disturb the peaceful environment in the state? The name of our organisation is self explanatory,we are fighting for the rights of the people. We have issued the advertisements to ask a simple question: why such CBI inquiries are not conducted in UP and Bihar where hundreds of encounters are taking place? He added: We will intensify our movement and hold a rally in Dahod, where SP Vipul Agrawal was arrested for his alleged involvement in the Tulsi Prajapati encounter case.
