US,UK issue travel advisory for Andhra NEW DELHI: The US and UK have issued travel alerts asking their citizens to defer non-essential travel to Andhra Pradesh in the wake of violent incidents in the state over Telangana statehood issue. The (State) Department recommends that US citizens defer all non-essential travel to Telangana and certain parts of Hyderabad (especially the Assembly and Secretariat,Osmania University,Panjagutta and Ameerpet areas), the US said in its travel advisory. The UK Foreign Office said in its advisory,The tension in Andhra Pradesh,led by some groups for and against the formation of a separate state of Telangana,has provoked some incidents of violence. Dont leave state: CM to Telugu film industry HYDERABAD: Amid talk that the Telugu film industry might relocate to its old base Chennai in the wake of growing attacks on film production units and offices by Telangana activists,Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Wednesday assured the industry of all support and protection to continue its business in the state. I will talk to the film industry people and ask them what type of protection they need. We will take steps according to the industrys requirements. They need not go back to Chennai again, he told reporters here. Rosaiah said the industry provides employment to thousands of people of Andhra Pradesh and not of any particular region. Hotels in Andhra take Rs 250-cr hit in Dec HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh hotel industry has suffered Rs 250-crore losses this month due to the ongoing agitation for a separate Telangana state,with most of the business being diverted to the neighbouring Karnataka,said hoteliers. The occupancy levels in most of the hotels came down to as low as 30 per cent. Most of the meetings and conferences were cancelled due to uncertainty, AP Hotel Owners Association Secretary B Jagadish Rao said.
