Ambika Soni took over the Information amp; Broadcasting Ministry taking many by surprise as Anand Sharma was expected to get charge of that portfolio. It was Soni,however,who was taken by surprise. While she was set to join the ministry right after the portfolios were given and even media was duly invited for her first day in office,Soni was told that her office was still not ready to receive her. She finally managed to take over the week after. Meanwhile,Jairam Rameshs penchant for transparency had him replace the wooden door of his office in the Power Ministry with a glass door. His moves might have been appreciated but have failed to impress his successor Bharatsinh Solanki,who has got the door changed again,replacing the glass door with a wooden door. The official reason for the change is that the glass door had been damaged while being repaired and,therefore,had to be replaced.
