64-yr-old held in Rajasthan for raping daughters for years

For years,she was reportedly raped by her father. But she kept quiet. Till Monday,when the victim,now a 28-year-old woman,went to the Bayana police station in Bharatpur and filed an FIR,after she allegedly caught him molesting her four-year-old daughter. The accused,a 64-year-old retired government clerk,and his wife have since been arrested.

The accused has five daughters and a son. He is accused of repeatedly raping two of his daughters and molesting his granddaughter. He and his wife were produced in court on Wednesday and have been sent to judicial custody for 15 days. The victims statements will be recorded before the magistrate on Friday, said Ashok Chouhan,SHO,Bayana police station.

It all started when I was around 12 years old, said the victim. When she complained to her mother,she was told that it was an age-old tradition. In 2003,she left home. When her father found her,she threatened to leave home again if the abuse continued. After getting married in 2008,she told her husband about the abuse,but they decided not to take any action,fearing that it would affect her younger sisters marriage prospects.

One of her sisters has alleged that besides being sexually abused,she also went through two abortions.

The husband of the victim said that they now face social ostracisation for bringing disrepute to the family.
