40 days after acquittal,4 return home

Almost one-and-half-month after the Bombay High Court acquitted five accused in the 2002 Best Bakery riot case,four of the them returned home in Vadodara from the Kolhapur Central Jail

Almost one-and-half-month after the Bombay High Court acquitted five accused in the 2002 Best Bakery riot case,four of the them returned home in Vadodara from the Kolhapur Central Jail in Maharashtra on Sunday morning. The fifth acquitted person was out on bail and with his family when the verdict was delivered.

Pankaj Gosavi,Shailesh Tadvi,Rajubhai Baria and Suresh alias Lalo Devejibhai Vasava arrived at the Vadodara railway station around 11 am. They were released on Saturday after their relatives produced a certified copy of the High Court order before the jail authorities.

Soon after reaching homes in and around the Hanuman Tekri area in the city,Gosavi and Tadvi left to meet their relatives while Baria stayed indoors. There was no word on Vasava whose parents have died and his house has remained abandoned for a long time.

We are happy that he is finally home. He has gone out of station to meet his uncle, said Pankajs mother Savita Gosavi.

Baria remained indoors till late in the evening and refused to talk to anybody. Barias wife Champa said,He has travelled all the way standing. He needs some rest and is sleeping, .

Tadvis mother Sushila said that soon after reaching home,he left for Chhota Udepur to see his ailing grandmother. He will think about work after sometime. However,like these five,

the remaining four who have been convicted should also be released keeping in mind the plight of their families. Just look at the Rajbhars! she said.

Dinesh Rajbhars younger sister lost her mental balance reportedly after he was named as accused. His parents are raising his three children. The four,along with Jagdish Rajput,were acquitted by a division bench of Justices V M Kanade and P D Kode by giving them the benefit of doubt on July 9.
