A meeting of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC),scheduled for Thursday,is set to be stormy with the ruling Congress learnt to be determined to not let a report on the 2G spectrum allocation get finalised by the current committee whose term ends on April 30. Ruling party sources said PAC chairman Murli Manohar Joshi was keen to finalise the report by that date but UPA members on the committee were of the view that the PAC should abandon its probe into the alleged scam and rather submit all documents and records to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC).
Since the JPC is already there,the PAC does not need to spend any more time on this issue,especially when there are many other CAG reports to be examined. Besides,how will you complete the probe without calling (former telecom minister) Raja for deposition? Congress MP and PAC member Arun Kumar Vundavalli told The Indian Express.
Congress MPs had disrupted the committees meeting last Friday questioning the competence of the committee to carry on the probe when the matter was sub-judice and a JPC was also constituted to probe it. This had come after a senior leader and minister had detailed talks with these Congress MPs ahead of the meeting.
