NEW DELHI, April 14: Australian captain Steve Waugh did have the last word, after all. He took over the stage after India skipper, Mohammed Azharuddin and coach Anshuman Gaekwad, said that their poor total cost them the Pepsi tri-series final. Waugh, then, revealed the story behind Australia8217;s win. According to him, the Australians bowlers had gone into the match with a lot of homework behind their back.

For Sachin Tendulkar, the brief was quot;to bowl just short of a length. For, Saurav Ganguly, we decided to bowl to his stumps and it was Shane Warne for Ajay Jadeja, quot; said Waugh. Waugh, naturally, was delighted that his bowlers stuck to this plan and helped the side sign off this demanding tour with a flourish.

Both teams fly out to Sharjah tomorrow for the one-day series starting from April 17 and the skippers seemed confident of a good show. While Waugh feels that this win has given them a quot;boostquot;, Azharuddin admitted that India8217;s record has not been very encouraging there. quot;I hope to change that, quot; hesaid.
