When the Belgian medical expert and three-time Olympic yachtsman Jacques Rogge became the seventh president of IOC, he was confronted with many questions, primarily on doping and corruption in sports. Six years after being at the helm, the issues are still alive. And Rogge was candid enough to admit it at the inauguration of the Olympic Bhavan here today.
8220;Unethical means in sports are prevalent in almost in all countries across the globe. The only difference is that in some countries it8217;s more visible and in some it8217;s not.8221; He said his regime is fighting against this unethical practice in a big way, but wouldn8217;t elaborate the ways and means to tackle the problem. 8220;The number of positive cases is a clear indication of our endeavour to fight doping. The 27 cases in Athens suggest that we are very much on track.8221; He was also of the view that more positive cases indicated that anti-doping agencies, including WADA were working in complete harmony with other international sports bodies.
