
Pakistan Cricket Board has dropped the idea of appointing former captain Waqar Younis as national team’s bowling coach. The decision was made by the ad hoc committee that met for nearly four hours here today. ‘‘The deal between the PCB and Waqar Younis didn’t go through. We have decided to invite these stalwarts to the National Cricket Academy for which a proper plan will be chalked out,’’ said PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan.

NAGPUR: East Zone crushed Bangladesh Board President’s XI by an innings and 149 runs on the penultimate day of the Duleep Trophy match here today. The Bangladesh XI resumed at their overnight score of 123-8 after following on and delayed the inevitable for 45 minutes as the last two wickets added 40 runs this morning. They were all out for 163 in 40.3 overs giving the Sourav Ganguly-led team a comfortable win.

PTV wants action
ISLAMABAD: A visibly relieved Pakistan Cricket Board today expressed its happiness over the Madras HC order directing Prasar Bharati to telecast the Indo-Pak series and wrote to BCCI asking it to secure the rights to telecast the series in Pakistan to state run PTV. ‘‘It is an internal matter of India. But we are relieved and the court order sets the ball rolling. We never had a doubt that the row over TV rights would derail the tour,’’ said PCB media advisor Abbas Zaidi.
