Friday’s crash on Wall Street is likely to cheer bears on Dalal Street this week. Indian stocks are likely to face a setback — at least on Monday — as the Dow Jones Industrial Average and Standard & Poor’s 500 Stock Index on Friday posted their biggest point declines since March 24, 2003.

‘‘Indian stocks and other Asian markets normally follow the US trend. There could be a temporary setback here also. If the US stocks recover in the subsequent days, Dalal Street will also bounce back,’’ said Pawan Dharnidharka, a BSE dealer.

The Dow of NYSE erased its gains for 2006. Citigroup and GE joined a growing list of companies, including chip maker Intel Corp and Yahoo Inc, whose quarterly results have disappointed investors.
