VIPs8217; guards withdrawn

A senior police official said that with this, nearly 150 constables and head constables will become available to strengthen night patrolling in the city. Nearly 75 personnel have already been put on night patrolling by this evening.

In most of cases, the guarded person had been provided with a single personal security officer PSO; however the city MP had two PSOs, an escort and a guard, as did the mayor.

quot;Withdrawing security will not create a problem for anyone; police officers are meeting the VIPs and assuring them that they need not feel endangered in the present improved scenario,quot; he said.

UT Mayor Kewal Krishan Adiwal, when contacted, said he had no objection to withdrawal of security. quot;Things are back to normal; also, we should live like the common man,quot; he said. Satya Pal Jain, MP, could not be contacted as he was out of station.
