A village panch in Durg district of Chhattisgarh beheaded his daughter-in-law after an altercation and then surrendered before the police.
Neelkanth Sahu (50) killed his daughter-in-law Saroj in a fit of anger on Thursday, said Durg (Rural) Additional Superintendent of Police Prashant Thakur. “Neelkanth Sahu, a panch of the Chingri village panchayat, said he was being continuously humiliated by his daughter-in-law for not earning a living and only concentrating on village politics,” said Thakur.
On Thursday, Saroj abused him when he demanded lunch. Sahu, in a fit of anger, picked up an axe and beheaded her. He then carried the victim’s severed head in a sack to the Aanda police station. He admitted to have murdered her because he was unable to bear the humiliation. A police party from Anda police station immediately rushed to the spot and recovered the victim’s body.
