Vijay Merchant trophy: first innings lead gives Maharashtra victory

Maharashtra defeated Gujarat in the under-16 Vijay Merchant trophy match being played at the Deccan Gymkhana cricket ground on Wednesday.

Maharashtra had declared at 467 in the first innings and bowled out Gujarat for 250 runs thus gaining a lead of 217 runs. Chirag Khurana was the star performer with the ball, picking up two crucial wickets. Meet Patel of Gujarat played well for his 106 runs and Rush Kalaria chipped in with 45 runs. Following on, Gujarat managed to score 153 runs for the loss of four wickets at stumps. Meet Patel again was the top scorer with 92 runs. Chirag Khurana picked up another couple of wickets and wrapped up his best performance yet.
