NOV 19: Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), V S Mathur today called upon corporate leaders to set the operating systems in proper perspective to stem corruption at various levels.

Addressing the senior executives of Indian Petrochemicals Corporation Limited (IPCL) at its corporate office here, Mathur said any system could be made more effective through greater accountability, transparency and role clarity.

“One needs to adopt clear methodologies to deal with various situations. Correct and just punishment go a long way in sending the right message across,” he said.

He stressed on importance of supervision and effective governance that is responsible and responsive to people’s needs.

Mathur felt that social acceptability to corruptpractices is dangerous development. +Stronger resistance is needed to make it clear to the corrupt that their ways are unacceptable through ruthless punishment and public disgrace+, he added. According to him ethical values and honesty need to be preached in the early age at homes and schools.

Dispelling the fear of vigilance in some officers, hemade it clear that CVC was meant to protect the honest and anyone who felt harassed could approach the commission without any fear.

Ashok Chawla, IPCL’s chariman-cum-managing director inhis speech said the compnay was laying stress on preventive vigilance care apart from streamlining procuedures and guidelines based on CVC’s recommendations.
