Valuables worth Rs 1 lakh stolen

CHENNAI, Aug 18: Valuables worth Rs 1 lakh were stolen from an apartment opposite Woodlands Theatre, Royapettah, on Tuesday afternoon. A youth got into the apartment, by using names of relatives of Dr Tilak, the owner. The doctor’s wife and the maid servant were alone in the house. The amn who was smartly dressed and in his mid 20s, asked to use the telephone. The women directed him to the telephone and went into the kitchen. He cut the telephone wire, brandished a knife, opened a cupboard and absconded with valuables worth Rs 1 lakh.
