
Four declared absconders
District Supply Officer A. Singh declared on Monday Kamlesh Shah and Ilesh Chudgar, managers of Mahavir petrol pump, Ranjit Singh Gill of Demlo Enterprise petrol pump and Madan Samaria, fair price shop owner, as absconders.
A case had been registered against Shah, Chudgar and Gill for various irregularities they committed in maintanance of accounts and stock in their petrol pumps. Samaria was accused of committing irregularites in accounts and stock maintanance in his fair price shop. Since the accused were not tracable despite repeated visits to their residences, they were declared absconders. An official spokesman warned that the Collectorate would take their property into possession, if the accused failed to present themselves before the collector within 30 days.
Rotary honours
District Collector and Magistrate Anil Mukim, on Tuesday, will present the Rotary Vocational Services Award to five people chosen by the Rotary Club of Jawaharnagar in recognition of excellence in their respective vocation and for practising high ethical standards at their workplace. The awardees include a police personnel, a bus driver, a postman, a railway employee and a person from the Sales Tax department. The awards include a Certificate of Proficiency, cash price and a medallion. The ceremony will be held at Hotel Surya Palace at 8 pm.
GEB transfer
The Gujarat Electricity Board GEB has transferred one Singh, deputy engineer to Surat. According to official sources, Singh has been transferred to Ukai power station in a bid to prevent him from tampering with the documents of the departmental inquiry going on against him. Sources further stated that the inquiry was instituted following complaints of irregularities against him.
