Pay vehicle tax, says VMC
The Vadodara Municipal Corporation VMC has asked Vadodara residents to pay up outstanding vehicle taxes. A VMC spokesman stated that the taxes should be deposited in the Vehicle Tax Department at Padmavati Shopping Centre near Nyay Mandir from 10.30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 2.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. Those who have purchased a new vehicle should also bring RC Book for payment of taxes. Non-payment of vehicle tax is an offence under the Bombay Provincial Corporation BPMC Act. The residents have been also asked to keep the tokens with them as proof of payment to avoid difficulties during on-road checks.

AIDS day rally in city
Indu Health Research Foundation, in association with the Indian Medical Association, Vadodara, will organise a rally to mark World AIDS Day on Wednesday. A press release issued here said that the rally would start from Gandhi Nagar gruha at 9 a.m and conclude at the Collector8217;s office at 11 a.m. About 1000 students from various schools are likely to take part.

Seminar on Y2K problem
The All India Institute of Local self government will organise a one-day seminar on Y2K problem, solution and methodology8217;. A release issued here said that the seminar would cover awareness on Y2K bug effects in various sectors and participants would be provided full information on the genesis of the problem, its effects, and methodology to test Y2K compliance besides other aspects. For further registration details, those interested have been asked to contact Nehru Bhavan, Rajmahal road, Vadodara or call 433252/431608 between 10 a.m and 6 p.m.

ICU upgraded at children8217;s hospital
The Lions club of Fertilisernagar, Burghein Lions CLub of Germany and Lions Club International Foundation LCIF have created additional ICU facilities worth Rs 20 lakhs at the K G Patels Children8217;s Hospital in Vadodara. A press release here said that the ICU facilities, which were created in the hospital four years ago, were now found to be inadequate to meet growing demands. The cheque was handed over by Lions district governor Mahendra Sinhji Jadeja to Vice-President of the hospital Surendra Joshi.
