Bhatia new SWAC chief
Gandhinagar:
Air Marshal V K Bhatia was given an impressive Guard of Honour as he took over as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of South Western Air Command SWAC at the SWAC headquarter here on Monday. Bhatia replaces Air Marshal S Krishnaswamy who has been shifted to the Western Air Command, New Delhi.

Commissioned in Air Force in 1962, Air Marshal Bhatia is a fighter pilot and has flown different types of fighter aircrafts. He is post graduate from Defence Services Staff College, Wellington and Royal College of Defence Studies, UK. He has held several important Command and staff appointments.

New course
A two-year job oriented vocational course in Railway Commercial is being introduced by the Railway Recruitment Board. This course was could be taken up after the completion of Std XII. The course is recognised by the CBSE. The student would be appointed as commercial clerk or ticket collector on Indian Railways. The last date for the submission of form is November 22 and the examinations are scheduled to be held in February. Haj details

Draw for the pilgrims for Haj 2000, was held at Gandhinagar on Sunday, an official release said.

Donkey rally
Members of the Youth Congress and residents of Nizampura and Pensionpura took out a donkey rally in the area on Monday, protesting against the diesel hike and rise in bus fares announced by the government. The members had placed the names of Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel and Ashok Bhatt depicted that the BJP government rule had been like that of a donkey8217;s rule in the state.
