Rains lash State
Ahmedabad:
While Ahmedabad received 19.5 mm rain on Thursday, parched areas like Kutch and Saurashtra also received rains in the last 24 hours. On Thursday, Junagadh, Banaskantha and Jamnagar districts received rains. While Vanthli in Junagadh district received 27 mm rain, Manavadar received 9 mm, Dantiwada in Banaskantha received 14 mm and Dhrol in Jamnagar district received 5 mm rain in 12 hours on Thursday.

MLA faints
Gandhinagar:
Senior Congress MLA from Pavi-Jetpur Mohansinh Rathwa fainted in his chair during a special debate on the scarcity situation in the State Assembly on Thursday, as his blood sugar level dipped. Rathwa, a former forest minister, was immediately shifted to the Assembly lounge where he was treated by doctors. He was later moved to the Gandhinagar Civil Hospital where his condition is reported to be stable.

Postal agents
Vadodara:
For the convenience of Subhanpura residents, the postal department has nominated new licensed postal agents in the area. According to a press note issued by senior superintendent of post offices, western division, Vadodara, the agents are: Kanaiyalal Trivedi, 49, Bajrang Society, opposite Sitaram complex, Subhanpura; Kotan Vyas, 91/792, Surya Kiran flats, opp Akanksha duplex, Smata road; Bhagwandas Patel, 46, Ganga Jamna Society, Subhanpura; Hemant Shah, 3/3, Parshwa Complex, Ellora Park and Divyesh Patel, 3, Park View Compound, New IPCL Road, Subhanpura.

Exhibition
The Society of Architecture Students, Department of Architecture, M S University, will organise a five-day exhibition on Search for Wholeness8217; by Shirish Beri from Friday. A press release said MSU Vice-Chancellor Anil Kane will inaugurate the event at 6 p.m in the faculty auditorium.

Oza invited
The World Conservation Union Species Survival Commission8217;s Korean plant specialist group has invited Gunvant Oza to participate in a two-day workshop on conservation strategy at the national arboretum, Korea, from October 4. It will be followed by a four-day-long field tour.

Medal given
Special Inspector-General of Police, Vadodara Range, D D Tuteja, who was awarded President8217;s Police Medal for Distinguished Services in January 1998, was given the medal by the governor on Wednesday.
