
Schools back to normal
Classes returned to normal after the teaching and non-teaching staff of Vadodara city and district called off their strike on Monday following a State government assurance that their demands would be dealt with.
Site demanded
More than 120 people who were displaced from the Vadodara Railway Station Road as their constructions violated road alignment norms have demanded alternative VMC sites in an open letter to Mayor Ratilal Desai and Municipal Commissioner G R Aloria, comparing their position with the Nava Bazaar shopkeepers who have been accommodated elsewhere.
VMC notices
The Corporation on Monday issued notices to 25 buildings and commercial complexes violating road margin norms in Nizampura. They have been given a week to demolish the offending constructions voluntarily. The VMC also issued notices to two high-rise buildings in Wadi for non-compliance with fire safety norms.
Suspended
The Vadodara Municipal Corporation on Monday suspended executive engineer I D Patel on charges of dereliction of duty. Some 10 societies were illegally drawing water from a Ajwa-Vadodara water pipeline, of which he was in charge.
Death condoled
Municipal School Board chairman Kishan Sheth, vice-chairman Kasturbhai Patel and other BJP school Board members have condoled the death of Bharuch BJP MP Chandubhai Deshmukh.
Hunger strike
The hunger strike of retrenched workers of the Operation Research Group Systems company entered its third day on Monday. They are protesting against the company8217;s non-compliance with the orders for their reinstatement.
Clashes rapped
The Vadodara Shanti Abhiyan activists Jagdish Shah and J S Bandukwala have taken strong exception to the 8220;communalisation8221; of the clashes in Bardoli town and has appealed to religious organisations not to interpret a relationship as a communal conspiracy.
Protest rally
The Vadodara Optical Association will take out a rally on Tuesday to protest against a Central government excise duty from the Mahatma Gandhi Nagar Gruh at 2.30 pm.
