DECEMBER 2: A devastating spell of seven for 30 by paceman Eric Upashantha took Sri Lanka A to a 25-run victory over Pakistan A and the winners’ title in the inaugural Abu Dhabi tri-nation cricket tournament here.

Upashantha tore through the Pakistani batting order as Sri Lanka defended a meagre total of 142 with a gutsy bowling and fielding performance to render futile a defiant unbeaten knock of 54 by Pakistan A skipper Rashid Latif at the Al Jazira Stadium here last night.

Sri Lanka, who came to the tournament as underdogs but outclassed India A with an emphatic 108-run win on Tuesday, won the tournament, got up to celebrate the national day of the united arab emirates.
