LIC sweep titles
BANGALORE: Life Insurance Corporation made a clean sweep of the titles in the finals of the eighth All-India inter-institutional badminton championship today. LIC’s Jaison Xavier bagged the men’s singles title defeating Guruprasad of Banks Sports Board 15-5 15-11. Xavier also claimed the double’s title partnering K Kishore Kumar, while Leena Pednekar beat Divya Ramesh 11-6 7-11 11-8 in an all-LIC women’s final.
Fine rally by Nobody
MUMBAI: Down 0-2 at one stage, Nobody Sports Club rallied splendidly to rout Khalsa Gymkhana 5-3 in the BHA Senior Division hockey league, sponsored by Punjab National Bank, at MahindraStadium today. Llewlyn Charles (3), Christopher D’Sa and Clayton D’Lima score for Nobody. Aditya Menon (2) and Ashish Gonsalves netted for Khalsa.
