With less than 24 hours to go for the Harbhajan Singh hearing by match referee Farokh Engineer, the bowler8217;s fate hangs in the balance. The habitual offender that he has been, Harbhajan was accused of assaulting Kings XI Punjab bowler S Sreesanth after Friday8217;s IPL match. When The Indian Express spoke to a few former players, they condemned the incident and said it was time BCCI acted tough.
Aunshuman Gaekwad: A senior player like Harbhajan should not have done this. He should be severely reprimanded. But you can8217;t clap with just one hand and I have every reason to believe that Sreesanth must have provoked him. But it doesn8217;t give Harbhajan the license to cross the line. It is an unforgivable act and if the BCCI doesn8217;t act now then there is bound to be more such incidents coming our way.
Kapil Dev: This kind of incident didn8217;t happen in ICL. You should pose the question to people who are part of the IPL and their brand ambassadors. I can8217;t think of such a bizarre incident happening.
Bishen Bedi: It is an ugly incident I don8217;t wish to talk about.
Niranjan Shah: The board is quite serious about the entire episode. We have sent a showcause notice. Do you think the board is not serious? What decision will be taken will depend entirely on the disciplinary committee.
