LONDON, November 27: More than half of Tory supporters are dissatisfied with party leader William Hague’s performance, according to a new opinion poll to be published on Thursday.

The MORI poll for The Times newspaper showed 53 per cent of Conservative supporters are unhappy with the way Hague is doing his job and just 29 per cent are satisfied. The survey also put the Labour Party’s support at 56 per cent, slightly down on the 60 per cent recorded last month, with the Tories unchanged at 24 per cent.

Tony Blair’s personal approval ratings fell a little, with those expressing satisfaction with his leadership declining from 72 per cent to 70 per cent, and from 89 per cent to 88 per cent among Labour supporters. That might suggest that a recent row over exempting Formula One racing from a ban on tobacco sponsorship damaged Blair’s personal standing.
