ROHTAK, Nov 22: Two passengers were run over by the New Delhi-bound Sirsa Express at the railway station here today. The deceased have been identified as Shiv Kumar from Rohtak and Ram Avtar from Bhiwani, said railway police sources. As the train slowed down and arrived at the platform, one of the victims tried to board the train and the other one tried to get down. Both collided with each other, fell down on the railway track and were run over. Both died on the spot. The bodies had been sent for post-mortem.

Kurukshetra: The Haryana government has enhanced the amount of Bhim Award from Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000 to make it at par with the Arjuna Award. This was disclosed by G. Madhwan, financial commissioner and sports and youth welfare secretary, at a function held here yesterday to honour players of international repute. Madhwan said the enhancement of other sports awards were also being considered.

Injured
Kaithal: Three members of a family were seriously injured when an explosion took place in a house in Chandana Gate area this morning. The blast was reportedly caused by the ignition of firecracker material like potash and sulphur. The police have collected the material lying scattered at the site of the incident and from a bin placed outside the house. The injured persons are Banwari 50, his wife, Maya 45 and son Ram Phal 12. They have been admitted to the General Hospital. Deputy Commissioner Jaywanti Sheekand said that the expenses for their treatment would be borne by the district Red Cross society. SP Sudhir Chaudhary said investigations into the incident were on.
