
Two murders have been reported from different parts of the city in the last 24 hours. Both the victims were rickshawpullers in their 50s. While one was stabbed to death with sharp-edged weapons, the other was killed with an icepick.
Om Parkash 50 was found dead on the Sua road under the Focal Point police station this morning.
The police sources said that the deceased had left his house in Kanganwal village last evening around 5.30 pm. His body was found this morning and his rickshaw was also missing. The Focal Point police have registered a murder case against unidentified persons.
Another murder was reported on Saturday when another rickshaw-puller Angrej Singh was found murdered in a shop in the Tyre Market, opposite the railway station. Angrej Singh had injury marks on his body. According to police sources, Angrej Singh, a resident of Para village near Phillaur, used to ferry goods of a spare parts shop on his rickshaw and sleep in the same shop during the night.
On Saturday, when the owners came to the shop around 11.30 am, they found it latched from inside. When he saw through a window, the body of Angrej Singh was lying on the floor. The police have started investigating the matter after registering a murder case against unidentified persons.
In both these cases no breakthrough has been made so far.
