Alonso hits wall

8226; A rare mistake by Fernando Alonso and continuing bad luck for Italian Giancarlo Fisichella left Renault empty-handed.

Alonso hit the wall on turn four while leading and retired on the 39th of 70 laps.

8226; Fisichella had retired three laps earlier, after leading from the start, with a hydraulics problem.

Button crashes

8226; Jenson Button shouldered the blame for the crash that prevented BAR scoring their first points of the season. After starting on pole position, Button retired when he hit the 8216;Wall of Champions8217; at the final turn with 23 laps remaining.
