CHANDIGARH, Sept 11: An inspector of the City Traffic Police was injured this morning after an irate group of rickshaw-pullers reportedly pelted stones at him, in Sector 17.

Inspector I.S. Mann, who was on duty in Sector 17, was hurt on the back and lower limbs. Trouble ensued, after Mann reportedly slapped a rickshaw puller who misbehaved with the official. Soon, more rickshaw pullers gathered and pelted stones at him and attacked him, sources said.

The area police arrived and managed to nab a few alleged trouble makers amidst stone pelting. However, they were let off with a warning because Mann did not want to pursue the matter legally, it was added.
