A day before the second Test between India and Pakistan in Lahore, VHP general secretary Pravin Togadia said the people will feel good only if the Government sends the Indian Army to Lahore instead of cricketers.

He shot off another announcement as well: The VHP will fight cases in the high court and Supreme Court of those police and Army personnel who are ‘‘victimised’’ by authorities in the name of human rights violation in J-K.

‘‘How can the country feel good when killings of security force personnel by terrorists continue in J-K, our sisters continue to become widows and Kashmiri Pandits continue to live as refugees in their own country,’’ Togadia said.

Defending the security personnel working in the strife-torn state, Togadia, who was in Jammu on Sunday, said: ‘‘When a judge orders death sentence for a criminal, he is never questioned. So when a security force person fights against terrorism, he deserves a pat, not victimisation.’’

He said, ‘‘Agar security karnevale nahin hote, to aaj CM bhi zinda nahin hote. Unki putri (Mehbooba) par bhi hamle huye hein (Had there been no security force personnel, even the CM would not have been alive. His daughter has been targeted so many times).’’

The firebrand VHP general secretary criticised the Government for holding talks with Pakistan. ‘‘They (government) should go to Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi, not with cricketers but with Army. This is the only solution,’’ he said.

India, he said, was under serious threat of Islamic terrorism and if the Al Qaeda network was not destroyed, India will have to pay a heavy price. ‘‘The whole country will soon become like Kashmir,’’ he said. Togadia alleged that when Pervez Musharraf was Brigadier, he was assigned the task to train the Taliban militia.

On the controversial women’s Bill, he took Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeeds and the Congress to task. ‘‘Those who don’t agree with the law of the land should leave the country. No other shameful law than this could be framed in the country,’’ he said.

The VHP leader demanded that the Mufti government be dismissed immediately and Governor’s rule imposed.
