MUMBAI, December 22: Subhash Honmurgi of Voltas and Abhijit Bhurke of Podar Junior College caught up with the overnight sole leader Ganesh Bhilare who squandered away half a point against Deepak Tandel in a winning position in the seventh round of the Senior Division chess tournament organised by the Bombay Chess Association at the Zandu Pharmaceutical Works canteen, Sayani Road.
Fifth seed Honmurgi outwitted second seed Suhas Pednekar while 11th seed Bhurke scored over top seed Rohit Singh Rana of St Xavier8217;s College. Bhilare, Honmurgi and Bhurke jointly lead with six points each at the end of the seventh round. There will be a triangular fight between these three players for the championship in the remaining two rounds. Tandel and M Sudarshan are on 5.5 points each in the second spot.
