PANCHKULA, April 7: The police have arrested three persons here for gambling in the open. They were caught red-handed at the Sector 16 chowk.
Those arrested include Sant Ram, a resident of Dhakoli, Derabassi, Suresh Kumar, a resident of Hiranvala, Shamli, UP and Raghbir Singh, a resident of Pinjore. The gamblers on seeing the police party tried to flee, but were overpowered by the police party.

The police have also recovered a sum of Rs 360 from them and a case has been registered at the Sector 5 police station and investigations are continuing. In another incident, the police recovered 27 pouches of liquor from Malkit Singh, a resident of Surajpur.
The police caught the accused while acting on a tip-off. A case has been registered under the Excise Act and further investigations are on.
