There is no point in waiting, says CPI

CPI has said that there is no point in waiting for the Govt to go ahead with the nuclear deal.

.

Contending that the government appears all set to go ahead with Indo-US nuclear deal, CPI on Wednesday said there is no point in waiting till such a step is actually taken for the Left parties to withdraw support.

“The point is that all signs point in this direction that the government has decided to go (ahead with nuclear deal), the Congress leadership has decided to go (ahead with the nuclear deal),” CPI general secretary A B Bardhan told reporters in New Delhi.

He said, “Prime Minister Manmohan Singh seems to have succeeded in making all of them (Congress and UPA constituents) to agree to his point of view and every single step that he is taking is in that direction.”

Showing signs of losing patience, Bardhan asked, “What is the point in waiting for the day (when government goes to IAEA) to see he (the Prime Minister) has gone there actually?”

He said the Left parties’ clear view would emerge after the meeting of UNPA on Thursday.
