We keep talking about the older crop of models as though no new faces matter. But that is not true. Modelling is an industry where age really counts and a fresh infusion of PYTs is commonplace. But most of them tend to disappear almost as soon as they make their first appearance. A few however stick around to see another day. Some even show signs of star quality. Here are five models we think will seize the day:
SONAL PENDSE:
With her delicately chiselled features, Sonal looks every bit the princess she plays in Anu Malik8217;s music video, Ho Raha Hai Samaa8217;. A first year student of HR college, she has been modelling since she was in junior college. Since she got her first modelling break with Sunsilk, Sonal has modelled for Nestle Crunch, Whisper, Suraj sarees and Aptech. A self-confessed extrovert, she has always dreamed of being a model. With aspirations to conquer tinsel town. Not one to lag behind, Sonal has already screen tested for Yash Chopra.
KIRAN RAO:
Though this Bangaloregirl began modelling three years ago, she has been in Mumbai for only a month. A regular feature in fashion shows, Kiran has also made it to Dusseldorf, a few months ago, for the IGEDO show. She has also done a campaign for ITC. With an MBA under her belt, this promising model is more than qualified for a jetsetting corporate career. But she is clear she wants to be a hair stylist and open her own salon after she is through with modelling.
KAVITA KHARAYAT:
All of 20, this Thane graduate started modelling a year ago and has worked with Sangeeta Chopra, Mehr Rampal and Achla Sachdev. Kavita has done fashion shows for leading brands including L8217;Oreal, Wella and Avon. Though she has modelled for fashion catalogues and press ads, Kavita feels she is better suited to the ramp. An amateur poet, she also likes watching movies, painting.
SHAMITA SINGHA:
This 20-year-old beauty has been modelling for a year now and has walked the ramp for major fashion shows as well as modelled for designercatalogues and magazines. Shamita can be seen in a number of commercials including Smyle Cough Drops, where she plays the college heart throb, Mother Dairy ice cream and Philips. An English Literature from Mithibai College, she is a voracious reader and enjoys travelling. Contrary to common perceptions, Shamita believes modelling is a viable long-term career option.
PALLAVI SHARMA:
Another Bangalore model, Pallavi started modelling a couple of years ago but has been in Mumbai only since February. Although she has done ramp shows, it is courting the camera that really gives her an adrenaline rush. Besides Margo soap, Nescafe and Marbles candy, Pallavi has modelled for a number of press ads including Charms, Elle 18 and Raymond8217;s. Although a journalism graduate, she wants to become a make-up artiste and hair stylist after her stint with modelling is over.
